The SNU Energy Initiative was established in 2025 to proactively address rapidly shifting global energy demands—driven by advancements in artificial intelligence and the expansion of data centers and advanced industrial complexes—while building a foundation for a sustainable future. Over the next five years, through our “Future Energy Innovation Initiative,” we are committed to researching and developing innovative technologies and policies across the entire energy lifecycle, cultivating multidisciplinary talent, and fostering a world-class network among academia, industry, and research institutes.

Specifically, the SNU Energy Initiative aims to pioneer breakthrough technologies and institutional frameworks spanning every stage of the energy lifecycle: production, transmission, consumption, storage, circulation, and energy-related law and policy. Through these comprehensive efforts, we seek to contribute directly to solving the critical energy challenges facing our nation and global society.

 Furthermore, we operate a Multidisciplinary Energy Certification Program that transcends traditional academic boundaries, bringing together faculty and researchers from law, humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, and engineering to educate the next generation of energy leaders. We are also expanding our global cooperative platform through joint research, international symposia, and internship programs with leading institutions worldwide.

The SNU Energy Initiative will serve as an integrated platform uniting technology, policy, education, and collaboration, as well as a strategic hub toward a sustainable future energy society.
